Saudi Shura Council Member Criticizes Trump’s Gaza Plan, Suggests Israelis Be Relocated
ISLAMABAD: A member of the Saudi Shura Council, Yousef bin Trad Al-Saadoun, has strongly criticized U.S. President Donald Trump‘s proposal to relocate Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, suggesting instead that Israelis be relocated to Alaska and Greenland. His remarks came in response to Trump’s controversial statement about transforming Gaza into “the Riviera of the Middle East,” which faced widespread condemnation from Arab, European, and other nations.
Al-Saadoun argued that Trump’s Middle East policy was reckless, blaming the lack of expert consultation and dialogue for the flawed approach. He also warned that “Zionists and their allies” would not succeed in manipulating Saudi leadership through media pressure and political maneuvers.
Additionally, Al-Saadoun rejected Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s suggestion that Palestinians establish their state in Saudi Arabia, emphasizing the Palestinian people’s right to their land. Riyadh has also condemned Netanyahu’s comments and reaffirmed its support for Palestinian statehood.

Trump’s proposal to take control of the Gaza Strip and resettle Palestinians elsewhere has drawn strong criticism from both allies and adversaries alike. The plan, which involves U.S. economic development of Gaza, marks a dramatic shift from longstanding U.S. policy on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and raises questions about Saudi Arabia’s role in a potential normalization of relations with Israel.
