Saudi Pro League Matchday 12: 5 Key Takeaways From a Thrilling Weekend
Felix sets up four goals, Al-Qadsiah smash six and Al-Ahli suffer a heavy defeat in a busy weekend of football.
London – (Special Correspondent/Web Desk) – The Saudi Pro League gave fans a busy and exciting weekend. Al-Qadsiah went top for a short time, but Al-Hilal soon took the lead back and finished October in first place.
Ronaldo takes the spotlight
Cristiano Ronaldo had a goal ruled out early for offside. It was a close call, but it seemed to fire him up. He scored three times as Al-Nassr beat Al-Kholood 5-3.
The Portuguese star now has 985 career goals, so the 1,000 mark is getting nearer. It was also his 11th perfect hat trick, with a goal from his left foot, his right foot and his head.
Joao Felix was just as important. He made four assists in the match. Only one other player has done that in the league, Moussa Diaby in 2024.
Felix now has eight assists and three goals in nine games this season.
Al-Ahli lost 6-1 at Al-Shabab. Their goalkeeper, Abdulrahman Al-Sanbi, was sent off early, and the game was hard to recover from.
Coach Marino Pusic said sorry to the fans after the match. He also spoke sharply to a reporter who asked about his future. Ivan Toney, who has 13 league goals, missed the game because he had to attend a court hearing in London.
Al-Hilal stay on top
Al-Hilal beat Al-Fateh 2-0 for their fifth win in a row. Ollie Watkins scored the first goal, and Ruben Neves added a penalty.
Four days earlier, the team lost 3-1 to Al-Shamal in the AFC Champions League Elite. Coach Simone Inzaghi had rested many key players for that trip. He knows his team can afford a loss or two in Asia, but home games in the league cannot be thrown away.
Al-Qadsiah bounce back
Al-Qadsiah answered their recent defeat in the best way. They won 6-0 at Al-Riyadh and now sit two points behind the leaders.
Tijjani Reijnders scored a hat trick and has eight goals in 10 games. Yannick Carrasco also scored three. With Mateo Retegui and Julian Quinones in the squad, the title race looks open.
Hamdallah keeps scoring
Al-Taawoun drew 1-1 with Al-Ettifaq. They are still in the relegation zone and have not won in 12 games.
Abderrazak Hamdallah scored the goal. He has 160 league goals, just one short of the record held by Omar Al-Somah.
