Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah Makes Meningitis Vaccine Mandatory for Hajj 2025

Hajj 2025: Meningitis Vaccine Mandatory for Registration

JEDDAH: The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has announced that the meningitis vaccine will be a mandatory requirement for all participants of the Hajj 2025 pilgrimage, both for Saudi citizens and foreign nationals.

According to the ministry, this decision is part of efforts to safeguard the health of millions of pilgrims and prevent the spread of infectious diseases. The vaccination will be a non-negotiable condition for Hajj participation, with the ministry emphasizing that “Hajj will not be allowed without vaccination.”

A ministry spokesperson stated, “Preventing the spread of infectious diseases during Hajj has become the need of the hour.” The registration process for Hajj packages will also require proof of vaccination, effectively barring those without it from registering or proceeding with the pilgrimage.

This move comes as part of the Saudi government’s ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of pilgrims during the sacred journey. The close proximity of the pilgrims, especially in confined spaces, increases their vulnerability to outbreaks, making such precautions critical for maintaining public health during the annual pilgrimage.
