AJK Leader Calls Anti-Military Incitement an Unforgivable Offense

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – Former Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister and President of the All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference, Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan, has strongly condemned campaigns aimed at undermining Pakistan’s Armed Forces, describing such actions as a grave offense against the state. He called for strict legal action against individuals involved in inciting hostility toward national institutions.

Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, Sardar Attique reviewed the recent unrest in Azad Kashmir, stating that what initially began as public demands related to economic hardships gradually transformed into a broader political confrontation. He maintained that while citizens had legitimate concerns, certain groups appeared determined to steer the movement toward conflict with state institutions.

He noted that both the Government of Pakistan and the Azad Kashmir administration responded positively to public demands, offering significant concessions, withdrawing numerous cases, and suspending around 170 FIRs in an effort to ease tensions and restore stability.

According to Sardar Attique, the situation later evolved beyond economic issues and expanded into constitutional debates involving the Interim Constitution Act of 1974 and refugee voting rights. He said several efforts were made through dialogue and informal negotiations to prevent escalation, but violence by certain elements ultimately overshadowed peaceful engagement.

Expressing sorrow over the loss of 17 lives during recent disturbances, particularly in Rawalakot and nearby regions, he emphasized that his family’s political tradition has always been rooted in peaceful democratic struggle and constitutional methods.

The Muslim Conference leader praised Pakistan’s Armed Forces for their professionalism and sacrifices, stating that the bond between Kashmiris and the Pakistan Army has deep historical roots. He highlighted the contribution of Kashmiris to Pakistan’s defense and recalled the role of the Qayyum Brigade in the early years of the country.
