Khawaja Mehran Arshad JAAC Arrested, Booked for Sedition in AJK

Khawaja Mehran Arshad JAAC Arrested After Army Mutiny Speech

MUZAFFARABAD – (Web Desk) – The AJK government has moved against Khawaja Mehran Arshad JAAC arrested under sedition laws after he publicly called on Kashmiri soldiers serving in the Pakistan Army to commit mutiny and return home.

The First Information Report was lodged at the Civil Secretariat Police Station in Muzaffarabad. Intelligence units had already verified the contents of Arshad’s speech, which he delivered on June 14, 2026, at Dreck, Rawalakot.

Arshad, who belongs to Dudial in District Mirpur, directly addressed uniformed personnel during his speech. He told them to stop waiting and commit mutiny, urging soldiers to abandon the Pakistan Army and fall back to Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

The case has been registered under Section 124-A of the AJK Penal Code, which deals with sedition and acts aimed at stirring rebellion against the state and its institutions.

Senior officials described the speech as a serious crossing of constitutional limits. They said the state had shown patience when the group raised economic and civic demands, but calling for military mutiny was a completely different matter.

The AJK Home Department had already proscribed the JAAC under the Anti-Terrorism Act just weeks earlier, citing violent clashes, attacks on law enforcement, and road blockades across the region.

Investigators are now examining financial records and digital activity to determine whether JAAC leaders have links to hostile foreign elements trying to fuel unrest in AJK.

The state has made clear that peaceful dialogue remains available for civic groups, but zero tolerance will be applied to anyone trying to destabilize national security institutions.
