Sara Sharif Murder Case: UK High Court to Hear Trial in October
A trial date has been set for the murder case of 10-year-old Sara Sharif, who was found dead at her home in Woking, Surrey, in August last year. Her father, Urfan Sharif, 42, stepmother, Beinash Batool, 29, and uncle, Faisal Malik, 28, have been accused of her murder and will stand trial on October 7, with the jury presentation scheduled for October 14.
The three suspects had traveled to Islamabad, Pakistan, with Sara’s five siblings on August 9, 2023, the day before her body was discovered. Police found Sara’s body after receiving a call from Pakistan at 2:47 am on August 10. Urfan, Beinash, and Faisal were arrested upon their return to the UK on September 13 and charged two days later with causing or allowing the death of a child.
The trio, who lived with Sara before her death, have denied all allegations and pleaded not guilty. A post-mortem examination revealed that Sara had sustained “multiple and extensive injuries” before her death, but the actual cause of death has not yet been established.
The trial, expected to last up to seven weeks, will be heard by High Court judge Justice Cavanagh. The previous court hearing was told that the three adults had appeared in court via video link, where the trial date was set.
This case has sparked widespread concern and attention, and the upcoming trial is expected to shed more light on the circumstances surrounding Sara’s tragic death
