The motorcyclists will now be able to get a driving license within half an hour after getting their learner’s permit. After getting the learner’s permit, they will have to take a test to get their driving license.
The traffic police have announced the relief on the order of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and the Punjab inspector general of police (IGP).
Lahore Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Amara Athar said motorcyclists will no longer have to wait after the learner’s permit.
“For a limited period, the 42-day learner period for a motorcycle license is being abolished. Now with the learner permit, citizens can get a driving license by taking the test,” she added.
The CTO said that the purpose of providing the facility was to save people’s time and make them law-abiding citizens. Citizens can get a motorcycle license for a period of one, two or five years.
She also said that cash handling at license centres had been abolished completely to ensure transparency.
“To obtain the driving license, come with an identity card. Audio and video recording of all the steps of the driving license is also being ensured,” she stated.
