Sania Mirza Opens Up About Struggles After Divorce
Sania also highlighted the importance of true friendship during hard times.
Islamabad — Indian tennis star Sania Mirza has spoken openly about the emotional challenges she faced after her divorce from former Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik.
In her recent YouTube show, Sania revealed that she went through severe mental stress and anxiety following the separation. “Before going live for my show, my body was trembling and my heart was racing uncontrollably. I almost decided not to go on air,” she said. “That’s when my friend Farah Khan left her film set and came to see me. She told me, ‘No matter what happens, you’re going to do this show.’ Her words gave me instant strength.”
Speaking about life as a single mother, Sania said she has had to reorganize everything from scratch — her routine, training, travel, and even her sleep. “Small things matter now, like taking my child to school and maintaining a bedtime routine. It’s really tough, but I have to stay strong for my child,” she added.

Reflecting on her journey, Sania shared that maintaining balance as a single mother has been a challenge, but she continued her professional commitments while raising her son. “It was a very difficult time, but with the help and love of supportive people, I became stronger,” she said.
Encouraging others who might be going through similar situations, Sania concluded, “I want people to know that even after divorce or a difficult phase, life can be rebuilt. Courage and support are always there — we just need to accept them and move forward.”
