Salman Ali Agha Confident Ahead of Pakistan vs India T20

Pakistan Ready to Face India in T20 Clash

Colombo: (Web Desk) – Skipper of the Pakistan cricket team, Salman Ali Agha, expressed confidence on Sunday that his side is fully prepared to face arch-rivals India in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 clash scheduled for today at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

Ahead of the high-stakes match, described as the “mother of all matches,” Agha highlighted that spinners would play a crucial role and named Usman Tariq as Pakistan’s trump card. “Tariq’s bowling action has been cleared twice. I cannot understand why people are again questioning it,” he said.

Agha emphasized that the encounter would be a true battle of nerves, requiring players to excel in every aspect of the game to secure victory. He noted the team’s strong momentum, having narrowly beaten the Netherlands in their opener and then defeating the United States by 32 runs. “Being in Colombo since the start will give us an advantage in terms of conditions,” he added.

On sportsmanship, Agha expressed hope that players would shake hands, unlike last year’s three Asia Cup clashes in Dubai. “The game should be played in the true spirit of cricket,” he remarked.

The match guarantees the winner a spot in the next Super Eights round. Agha praised captain Babar Azam’s form and hoped he would continue scoring runs. Regarding weather uncertainties, he said, “Even if rain curtails the match, our plan is ready.”

The 35,000-capacity stadium has sold out completely, with hundreds of millions more expected to watch on television worldwide, making this one of the biggest and most lucrative clashes in world cricket.

Meanwhile, Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Ahmad Khan extended his best wishes to the team, stating, “We are optimistic, but only the side that plays better will win. Sports and politics must be kept separate, and promoting sportsmanship is essential.”
