Saim Ayub Equals Unwanted T20I Record in Pakistan’s Defeat to India at Asia Cup 2025

Topping the list is middle-order batter Umar Akmal, who was dismissed for zero 10 times in 84 matches.

Dubai – Pakistan’s young opener Saim Ayub set an unfortunate record during the high-voltage clash against India in the Asia Cup T20 2025.

Opening the innings for Pakistan, Saim was dismissed on the very first ball of the match after giving a simple catch to Jasprit Bumrah off the bowling of Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya. This marked the seventh time Saim Ayub has been dismissed for a duck in T20 Internationals, moving him up to third place on the list of Pakistani players with the most T20I ducks.

He now shares the third spot with Babar Azam, Mohammad Hafeez, and Kamran Akmal, all of whom have also been dismissed for a duck seven times in their T20I careers.

Topping the list is middle-order batter Umar Akmal, who was dismissed for zero 10 times in 84 matches. He is followed by Shahid Afridi, who had 8 ducks in 98 T20Is.

Here’s a breakdown of Pakistani players with the most T20I ducks:

  • Umar Akmal – 10 ducks (84 matches)

  • Shahid Afridi – 8 ducks (98 matches)

  • Saim Ayub – 7 ducks (43 matches)

  • Kamran Akmal – 7 ducks (58 matches)

  • Mohammad Hafeez – 7 ducks (119 matches)

  • Babar Azam – 7 ducks (128 matches)

Saim’s early dismissal added to Pakistan’s batting woes, as the team struggled to recover and managed only 127 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
