Rumours about 27th amendment have no basis, Bilawal clarifies
Bilawal dismisses 27th Amendment rumours, calls for urgent NFC reforms to boost provincial resources.
Islamabad-(Special Correspondent / Web Desk) – On Sunday, PTI senior leader Asad Qaiser announced that the party would approach the legal community over what he called a “new drama” linked to the 27th Amendment legislation. He said PTI would begin by meeting the Islamabad Bar this month to discuss the matter.
Earlier in June, speculation was rife in legal circles about the government planning to introduce the 27th Amendment. The Islamabad High Court Bar Association backed the amendment, but also demanded wide-ranging judicial reforms. These included the rotation of judges across the country to ensure fairness and transparency.

When asked about changes to the National Finance Commission (NFC) award, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari said, “Absolutely, further changes must be made to the NFC.” He pointed out that the current NFC award was introduced before the 18th Amendment in 2010, which shifted many responsibilities from the federal government to the provinces.`
Bilawal stressed that the NFC award should be revised regularly every five years, as required by the Constitution. He made it clear that provincial shares cannot be reduced in new awards, and argued that all provinces must receive more resources in line with their expanded responsibilities after the 18th Amendment.
The PPP chairman urged the government to immediately convene the NFC and issue new awards. “All provinces must get resources according to the 18th Amendment,” he said, calling it essential for fair distribution and better governance across the country.
