Rizwan’s 74 Runs Not Enough as Pakistan Loses T20 Opener to South Africa

Durban, South Africa – In a nail-biting contest, South Africa edged past Pakistan by 11 runs in the first T20 match of the series. The hosts, after being put to bat, amassed 183 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs.

David Miller (82) and George Linde (48) shone brightly for South Africa, while captain Heinrich Klaasen contributed 12 runs. Hendricks (8) and Ferreira (7) also chipped in.

Pakistan’s bowling attack was led by Shaheen Shah Afridi and Abrar Ahmed, who claimed 3 wickets each. Abbas Afridi picked up 2 wickets, while Safyan Muqim took 1.

In response, Pakistan’s batting lineup stumbled, managing 172 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. Captain Muhammad Rizwan top-scored with 74 runs, while Saim Ayub (31) and Tayyab Tahir (18) provided some support.

Babar Azam, however, had a rare failure, returning to the pavilion without scoring. Usman Khan managed just 9 runs.

With this victory, South Africa takes a 1-0 lead in the T20 series.
