Richard Grenell Holds No Official US Government Position: FO

ISLAMABAD: The Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Tuesday deliberated on the social media posts made by former US official Richard Grenell in support of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan.

During the meeting, Foreign Office officials clarified that Grenell was not holding any official position in the US government at the time of his tweets. They further informed the committee that he has since deleted all related posts.

The officials emphasized that Grenell remains only a nominee and does not currently occupy any government role. “Richard Grenell has no position in the US government as of now. His tweets were made in a personal capacity and have already been removed,” they stated.

The Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs discussed the potential diplomatic implications of Grenell’s remarks and whether they carried any official weight. However, the Foreign Office reassured the committee that Pakistan’s diplomatic channels are actively monitoring the situation and maintaining engagement with relevant stakeholders.
