ISLAMABAD: Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Reza Amiri Moghaddam, recently held a significant meeting with Federal Minister of Industry and Production and National Food Security, Rana Tanveer Hussain. The meeting, which took place in Islamabad, focused on discussing bilateral cooperation and addressing issues of mutual interest between the two nations.
During the meeting, Ambassador Moghaddam reiterated Iran’s commitment to strengthening its relations with Pakistan across various sectors. Both sides emphasized the deep-rooted fraternal ties and geographical proximity that bind the two neighboring countries together.
Federal Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain echoed these sentiments, highlighting the importance of the strong bond shared between Iran and Pakistan. He also acknowledged Iran’s top leadership’s keen interest in enhancing cooperation with Pakistan in all fields.
One notable area of discussion was the expansion of trade relations, particularly in the agricultural sector. Ambassador Moghaddam expressed Iran’s interest in importing more meat, rice, and agricultural products from Pakistan, with a special mention of Pakistani mangoes and kinnow, which are highly esteemed in Iran.
In return, Minister Hussain praised the global reputation of Pakistani Basmati rice and expressed eagerness to explore further avenues for trade cooperation between the two countries.
Additionally, it was revealed that a memorandum of understanding on livestock quarantine and plant protection is expected to be signed during the upcoming visit of the Iranian president to Pakistan, further solidifying bilateral ties.

Looking ahead, both sides discussed the potential for collaboration in various industries, including fertilizer production. The Iranian Minister of Industry extended an invitation to Minister Hussain to visit Tehran and participate in the upcoming meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), emphasizing the importance of continued engagement and cooperation between Iran and Pakistan.
Overall, the meeting highlighted the shared commitment of Iran and Pakistan to deepening their multifaceted relationship for the mutual benefit of both nations and their people.
