Ramadan Begins in Pakistan as Moon is Sited for the Holy Month

ISLAMABAD: The moon for the holy month of Ramadan was sighted in Pakistan on Saturday, marking the official start of the blessed month. The first fast will be observed on Sunday, March 2, 2025.

As Ramadan begins, millions of Muslims across the country will begin their dawn-to-dusk fasts, engaging in spiritual reflection, acts of charity, and prayer. It is a time for self-discipline, spiritual growth, and strengthening of community bonds.

Markets across the nation are bustling with activity as shoppers stock up on dates, fruits, and other Ramadan essentials. Mosques are being cleaned and beautifully decorated in preparation for the holy month.

To facilitate the observance of Ramadan, the government has announced special arrangements, including reduced working hours, Iftar arrangements, and the establishment of special Ramadan bazaars across the country. Additionally, enhanced traffic and security measures have been implemented to ensure a smooth experience for those observing the fast.

Health experts are urging the public to take extra precautions during Ramadan, emphasizing the importance of staying hydrated and eating balanced meals during non-fasting hours.

Earlier, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee had announced that the Ramadan moon was not sighted, and the first fast would fall on Sunday, March 2. Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad, addressing a press conference in Peshawar, confirmed that no testimony of moon sighting was received from any part of the country the day before.

With Ramadan now officially underway, Muslims across Pakistan are ready to embrace the spiritual significance of this holy month.
