Rainstorm Wreaks Havoc on IESCO Chakwal Infrastructure, Power Restored in 80% Areas

CHAKWAL: Recent torrential rains have caused widespread damage to the electricity distribution infrastructure in IESCO’s Chakwal Circle, with officials confirming the collapse of 99 high-tension (HT) poles, 49 low-tension (LT) poles, and severe damage to 65 transformers.

According to IESCO, the flooding and heavy downpour disrupted power supply to large parts of Talagang, Chakwal, Pind Dadan Khan, and Dhudial Divisions.

Chief Executive Officer IESCO, Muhammad Naeem Jan, along with Chief Engineer Operations Syed Kashif Shah, Chief Engineer O&M Zahid Saleem Usmani, and other senior officials, visited the affected areas in Dhudial to assess the situation and review restoration work.

SE Chakwal Circle Waheed Abbasi briefed the delegation on the extent of the damage, noting that the distribution system had been significantly compromised by the severe weather. Despite these challenges, IESCO teams have managed to restore electricity in over 80% of the affected areas by working day and night under emergency conditions.

CEO Muhammad Naeem Jan commended the commitment of field staff and officers for their swift response. He instructed that all necessary materials and resources be delivered to restoration teams without delay and stressed the importance of ensuring worker safety throughout the operation.

Local representatives, including Chairman Union Council Raja Irfan and Councilor Malik Zafar, met with the IESCO delegation and praised the dedication of IESCO teams in restoring power under difficult circumstances.
