Punjab University Expels Three Students After Sociology Department Protests

Lahore (Web Desk) — The Punjab University administration has taken administrative action against 11 students of the Sociology Department for staging protests against teachers and running related social media campaigns, reported 24NewsHD on Thursday.

According to the university administration, three BS Sociology students — Muhammad Akash Shakeel, Raja Wahab Naseem, and Ali Sher — have been expelled from the university for violating disciplinary rules.

Meanwhile, eight other students — Malaika Kamran, Ali Shah Azam, Aisha Shahzad, Ali Haider, Ali Ahmed, Ali Zaid, Aisha Fatima, and Irwaq Mahmood — have been fined and issued formal warnings.

University officials stated that the action was taken for breach of discipline, adding that protests and online campaigns against faculty members violated institutional regulations.

The administration clarified that all penalized students have been granted the right to appeal the decision. Appeals may be submitted to the Vice Chancellor within 15 days of the issuance of punishment notices.
