Punjab Seeks Morinaga’s Investment to Modernize Dairy, Meat Production

Lahore,-(Asif Iqbal)- Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif visited the headquarters and plant of world-renowned Japanese company in the milk and dairy products industry, Morinaga, and saw its various departments. She invited the company, which has been operating for the last 100 years now, to invest in dairy sector in Punjab. She said,”Morinaga International has been offered projects in the local production of baby food, other bakery products and export-quality meat.”

 

Madam Chief Minister agreed to use modern Japanese machinery and methods in the animal sector, especially for the breeding of healthy animals to obtain quality meat. She also visited research and development departments of Morinaga, where she was briefed in detail by authorities concerned of the company. She said,”We want to make Morinaga’s experiences a model for the development of dairy sector in Punjab.” She added,”Punjab government will provide all facilities to the Morinaga company regarding dairy products.” She highlighted,”We would welcome Japanese companies to establish dairy development and advanced protein network in Punjab.”

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said,”Formula milk is essential for the physical and mental development of children, as a mother, taking care of children is important for me.” She noted,”In 2017, during the tenures of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Morinaga invested in Punjab.” She underscored,”In Pakistan, the fourth largest country in terms of milk production, Punjab has a 60% share.”

Mdam Chief Minister said,”Morinaga’s investment in Sheikhupura is a clear example of the flagship partnership between Punjab and Japan.” She added,”80% of Punjab’s dairy sector is facing both production and quality issues due to old methods.”

 

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said,”Morinaga’s partnership will benefit 63% of Punjab’s population involved in agriculture and livestock.” She added,”Morinaga Business trend of milk industry in Punjab is commendable.”

Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif met the first female Deputy Governor of Tokyo, Mrs. Matsumoto Akiko. The first female Deputy Governor of Tokyo Mrs. Matsumoto Akiko accorded a warm reception and congratulated Maryam Nawaz Sharif on becoming the first female Chief Minister of a province. Both the leaders agreed to promote mutual ties between the female leadership of Pakistan and Japan.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif congratulated Mrs. Matsumoto Akiko on becoming the first female Deputy Governor of Tokyo. The two leaders emphasized that the leadership role of women is a common feature for Pakistan and Japan. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif while talking to Mrs. Matsumoto Akiko lauded that her role in rendering public services for the last 35 years in the Japanese government is commendable.

The two leaders agreed to promote bilateral relations between Pakistan and Japan. Matters pertaining to promoting bilateral cooperation between Punjab and Japan along with launching joint-ventures in various sectors were discussed. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif underscored, “We want to benefit from Japan’s experiences and modern technology in the fields of infrastructure, urban development, renewable energy and clean water projects.” Matters relating to development of a clean Punjab on the model of Tokyo’s ‘Clean Authority’ came under discussion.

 

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz apprised the Deputy Governor about the projects launched by the Punjab government relating to comfortable travel facilities as well as plans to make Punjab clean and green. She further informed that revolutionary projects have been launched to empower the women in the province.
