Punjab & KP to face petrol shortage due supply chain disruption
LAHORE: Ongoing protests by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have disrupted the petroleum supply chain, raising concerns about a potential fuel shortage in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Abdul Sami Khan, chairman of the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association, stated that road closures have halted fuel deliveries to petrol stations in these provinces. “There are reports of petrol and diesel shortages at some pumps. The government must act swiftly to ensure a continuous supply,” he said, explaining that tankers are unable to reach these regions.

While Sindh remains largely unaffected, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are facing mounting challenges, with many vehicles stranded and fuel running low. The situation is particularly dire in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Lahore, where the ongoing protests have significantly disrupted fuel deliveries. Khan emphasized the urgent need for authorities to address the issue to prevent a full-scale fuel crisis.
