Atta Tarar slams PTI for promoting chaos, highlights govt’s progress
RAWALPINDI: Minister for Information, Broadcasting, National Heritage and Culture, Attaullah Tarar, on Monday strongly criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for its pursuit of the politics of “chaos and anarchy,” pointing to the violent events of May 9, which he described as part of PTI’s conspiracy.
Tarar stated that the people of Pakistan have rejected this approach in favor of a politics centered around progress and welfare, which is exemplified by the government’s initiatives under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Speaking to the media at Nur Khan Airbase, Tarar highlighted the economic recovery under the current government, citing significant achievements in the national economy. He pointed out that the Pakistan Stock Exchange had surpassed the historic milestone of 100,000 points, inflation had dramatically fallen from 32% to 6.9%, and foreign exchange reserves were steadily increasing. He also emphasized the rise in exports and remittances, which had surged to $8.8 billion in the first quarter.
“Two major commodities, including electricity and petrol, are now cheaper than in previous years, and the interest rate and KIBOR stand at 15% and 13%, respectively,” Tarar said, adding that these indicators are signs of economic progress and growing foreign investment.
Tarar also spoke about the strengthening of Pakistan-Belarus relations, with the recent arrival of President Alexander Lukashenko in Islamabad. He described the visit as historic, noting that the two countries have maintained diplomatic ties for over three decades. The visit, he said, would further enhance cooperation in several areas, including defense, agriculture, agro-processing, pharmaceuticals, and textiles, which would ultimately benefit the people of Pakistan.
The minister praised the friendship between Pakistan and Belarus, calling it “exemplary,” and lauded the sentiments expressed by President Lukashenko towards Pakistan. He added that during the visit, a number of business-to-business MoUs would be signed to increase bilateral cooperation.

Tarar also highlighted that the Belarusian President’s visit was a follow-up to a meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Lukashenko at the Astana SCO Summit, further strengthening ties between the two nations.
In conclusion, Tarar emphasized the positive diplomatic developments and economic growth under the current government, contrasting them with PTI’s disruptive politics, and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring a better future for the people of Pakistan.
