Punjab Gets Army Rangers Deployment for Muharram Security
Federal Government Approves Army Rangers Deployment Across Punjab Province

The federal government has approved Punjab’s request to deploy Pakistan Army and Rangers personnel across the province to strengthen security arrangements for Muharram processions and gatherings.
According to officials, Army and Rangers units are expected to arrive in all districts by the evening of 8 Muharram. As part of the security plan, a joint flag march involving police and military personnel will be held in Lahore to demonstrate preparedness and reassure the public.
The additional forces will work alongside the police, with a particular focus on maintaining law and order during the 9th and 10th of Muharram. Deployed personnel will coordinate closely with district administrations and operate under the supervision of the respective Deputy Commissioners.
The Punjab Home Department had formally requested assistance from the Ministry of Interior, citing the need for enhanced security measures during Muharram. The request emphasized the importance of ensuring peaceful religious observances amid prevailing security concerns and potential threats from terrorist elements and other disruptive groups.
