Punjab Education Department Announces New Admission Policy and Exam Schedule

LAHORE: The Punjab Education Department has unveiled a detailed schedule for educational activities, annual examinations, and a new admission policy for the Rawalpindi division, covering the period from January 15 to May 31.

According to the official circular, the academic year 2025-26 will begin on April 1. Admissions for early grades, including Junior Class Prep and Nursery Class I, will open on February 3.

The examination timeline for the year includes Matriculation exams starting on March 4, Class IX exams on March 21, and Intermediate exams scheduled for the first week of May.

Admissions in government schools will be conducted in two phases:

  • Phase 1: April 1 to May 31 for Classes I and II.
  • Phase 2: August 15 to October 31 for additional intakes.

Annual exams for Classes I to VIII will take place from March 12 to March 25, with results to be announced on March 31. In a significant move, each class will allow new admissions up to 10% of the total student capacity, effectively limiting the number of new enrollments in government schools.
