Lahore (Web Desk) – The Punjab Assembly on Tuesday passed the Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) Amendment Bill 2025, setting the upper age limit for the chairman of the commission at 69 years. The bill, presented by government member Amjad Ali Javed, aims to ensure leadership renewal and institutional efficiency in the province’s higher education system.
Speaking in the Assembly, Javed highlighted that previously there was no age restriction for the PHEC chairman, allowing incumbents to remain indefinitely. “Some people consider themselves indispensable, while graveyards are full of indispensable people. The system keeps running,” he said, emphasizing the importance of continuity over individual tenure.
