LAHORE-(Asif Iqbal/News Desk)- Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, has said that the restoration of political activities and renewed public confidence in the democratic system stand among the key achievements of his government.
Speaking to senior journalists and anchorpersons during his visit to Lahore, the prime minister noted that uncertainty among the people of Azad Kashmir has significantly declined due to ongoing development initiatives. He emphasized that the region has entered a new era of progress, stability, and prosperity.
“During the past five months, the government has launched several development projects aimed at improving infrastructure, providing basic facilities, and raising the standard of living of the people,” he said. He added that public service and good governance remain the core principles guiding his administration, with concrete measures being implemented to address key challenges through effective governance and improved service delivery.

The prime minister further highlighted that special funds have been allocated for the uplift of backward and underdeveloped areas to ensure inclusive growth across the state.
Referring to the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), he stated that the party has always struggled for the rights and welfare of the people. “The Peoples Party understands the pulse of the masses, which is why it continues to enjoy their trust and confidence,” he remarked.
In a separate interaction with members of the Kashmiri community residing in Lahore, Rathore paid tribute to the sacrifices of the Kashmiri people, terming them the true strength of the Kashmir freedom movement. He said that people in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir continue their historic struggle for the right to self-determination.
He urged Kashmiris living in Pakistan and across the world to play their role in highlighting the ongoing struggle and raising awareness about human rights violations in the disputed region at international forums.
“The Kashmiri diaspora is not only an ambassador of the freedom movement but also plays a vital role in the development and progress of Azad Kashmir,” he said, appreciating their continued support and commitment to the national cause.
Reaffirming solidarity, the AJK premier stated that the people of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir stand firmly with their brethren in occupied Kashmir and will continue to extend political, diplomatic, and moral support to their just struggle. He expressed confidence that the sacrifices of Kashmiris would eventually bear fruit and that they would succeed in determining their own future.
The prime minister also reiterated that his government is committed to strengthening political stability and democratic institutions within Azad Kashmir. He said that the revival of political activities has reinforced the democratic process and restored public trust in governance.
Separately, during his meeting with Vice Chancellor of Women University Bagh, Professor Dr. Anila Kamal, the prime minister was briefed on ongoing development projects, academic progress, and financial challenges faced by the institution.
He congratulated Dr. Kamal on becoming the first female vice chancellor of the university and expressed best wishes for her leadership. The vice chancellor informed the prime minister that multiple development projects funded by the federal government and the Higher Education Commission are nearing completion.
According to the briefing, six buildings under a revised project costing Rs 1,795 million are in their final stages, while another six structures are under construction under a separate revised estimate of Rs 2,500 million. Additionally, the country’s first Women Software Technology Park, established with the support of the Pakistan Software Export Board at a cost of Rs 31 million, has been completed and will soon be inaugurated.
The prime minister assured full government support in addressing the university’s financial challenges. He also pledged early approval of the revised PC-1 for infrastructure development, including boundary walls and land leveling, as well as the construction of a five-kilometer road to connect university buildings, which is expected to be completed within the year.
Reiterating his government’s commitment to education, Rathore emphasized that all available resources would be utilized to promote higher education for women in the state.
He concluded by reaffirming that his government would continue working towards political stability, accelerated development, and public welfare, ensuring that Azad Jammu and Kashmir emerges as a strong, prosperous, and developed region
