PTI’ Salman Akram Raja Denies Claims of 190 Million Pound Transfer to Malik Riaz
Raja Denies Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi Benefited from 190 Million Pounds
ISLAMABAD: PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja has dismissed claims that PTI Founder Imran Khan transferred 190 million pounds to real estate mogul Malik Riaz, stating that the amount was never Pakistan’s taxpayer money. During a talk show, Raja emphasized that no British ruling had suggested otherwise and clarified that the money came from an arrangement involving Malik Riaz’s family, which was brought to Pakistan at their request. Raja expressed confusion over the delay in the decision of the 190 million-pound case, but maintained that the matter was kept confidential on the advice of British authorities, with the PTI government opting not to publicize the agreement.
Raja also strongly refuted accusations of personal benefit, asserting that neither Imran Khan nor Bushra Bibi had profited from the funds. He pointed out that the PTI’s ongoing negotiations with the government were focused on key demands, including the establishment of a judicial commission to investigate the events of May 9, 2023, and November 26, 2024, as well as the granting of bail to Imran Khan and other political prisoners. Raja warned that if these demands were not met by January 16, the peace talks would end, stressing that the PTI was not seeking any executive orders or NRO.

In response, PML-N leader Talal Chaudhry challenged Raja’s claims, alleging that PTI leaders had tried to give the Al-Qadir Trust case an “Islamic touch.” He clarified that the land for the trust belonged to Malik Riaz and denied any government deals or concessions related to the case. Chaudhry also criticized the PTI’s foreign relations, stating that countries like Saudi Arabia, China, and Turkey were dissatisfied with Imran Khan’s leadership, and dismissed claims that the UAE president had asked the government to end all cases against him.
