NA Speaker to Oversee Continued Talks After Positive First Round

ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has called for the second round of talks between the government and opposition negotiation committees on January 2, 2024. The meeting, which will take place at 11:30 am in the Constitution Room of Parliament House, is aimed at continuing the dialogue process to address critical national issues.
The NA Speaker will preside over the discussions, following the first round of talks, which concluded positively. The initial session lasted for about two hours and was marked by a spirit of goodwill from both sides. Both the government and opposition committees expressed their commitment to continuing the negotiations, acknowledging the significant step forward made in fostering understanding.

The government committee, including prominent figures like Ishaq Dar, Irfan Siddiqui, and Rana Sanaullah, worked alongside opposition representatives such as Abdul Aleem Khan, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Naveed Qamar, and Dr. Farooq Sattar. The PTI was represented by Asad Qaiser, Raja Ansar Abbas, and Hamid Raza, with Asad Qaiser noting that several PTI members were unable to attend due to ongoing court cases abroad.
