PTA to Disable SIM Cards Linked to Cancelled or Expired IDs

PTA Moves to Block SIMs Associated with Invalid Identification Documents

The PTA has announced that starting August 16, SIM cards tied to cancelled identity cards will be deactivated. Furthermore, SIM cards linked to the ID cards of deceased individuals will be blocked by October 15.

Customers will have the opportunity to restore their SIM cards through biometric verification after obtaining new identity cards from NADRA.

The PTA will also block SIM cards issued on identity cards that expired since 2017. Customers have until September 2 to renew their ID cards.

PTA Cracks Down on Illegal SIM Issuance in Five Cities

Alerts have been sent to affected SIM card users, and an awareness campaign will be launched soon. To transfer SIM cards from deceased individuals, customers will need to provide original death certificates and proof of kinship. The PTA has requested data from NADRA on expired, cancelled, and deceased ID card holders.
