PTA Set to License Starlink for High-Speed Internet in Pakistan
Elon Musk's satellite internet company awaits final security clearance to begin operations.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is making significant strides to enhance internet speeds in the country by moving forward with plans to grant a license to Starlink, Elon Musk’s satellite internet company.
According to PTA officials, the decision to license Starlink has been agreed upon in principle, with only security clearance remaining. Once that process is complete, Starlink will be officially permitted to operate in Pakistan.
“The license for Starlink is ready, with just the security clearance still pending,” PTA officials confirmed.
The arrival of Starlink’s high-speed satellite internet service is expected to greatly improve connectivity, particularly in rural and remote regions where traditional broadband services are either limited or slow.
PTA officials also mentioned that Starlink would need to establish a commercial agreement with Pakistan’s Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) in order to offer its services. This agreement would need to be submitted to the PTA for approval.
Starlink is expected to launch its services in Pakistan within a year, providing reliable, high-speed satellite internet access to people across the country.
