Private schools urge govt to scrap Saturday holiday

LAHORE (Web Desk): Private schools in Punjab have demanded the abolition of Saturday holidays in the upcoming academic year.

In this regard, the head of Pak Education House, Qazi Naeem Anjum, proposed that summer vacations should be limited to two months, while winter holidays should be reduced to only 10 days in January.

He said the academic year should consist of at least 180 days to ensure proper completion of the curriculum.

Qazi Naeem Anjum further stated that due to frequent and unannounced holidays, educational institutions were able to conduct academic activities for only 127 days during the previous academic year.

He also demanded that schools be allowed to organize summer camps during the summer break so that the syllabus can be completed effectively.

Officials from the School Education Department Punjab assured representatives of private schools that their concerns would be considered after hearing their proposals.
