Islamabad-(Mudassar Iqbal)- A ceremony for signing the 26th Constitutional Amendment Act Bill is set to take place today (Monday) at the Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad.

Although the event was originally scheduled for 6:00 AM, the time has been changed and has yet to be finalized. The ceremony is expected to occur during the day, where President Asif Ali Zardari will officially endorse the bill following its approval by both the Senate and National Assembly.

In a separate statement on Sunday, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) senior leader Sherry Rehman mentioned that the current government has extended invitations to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to join a special committee on numerous occasions.

Speaking during a significant Senate session, Rehman noted, “The PTI has not submitted any proposals regarding the constitutional amendment in ten meetings of the parliamentary committee.”

She also acknowledged the contributions of PPP leadership, stating, “The PPP laid the groundwork for the constitution, and 80 percent of the clauses in the charter of democracy were incorporated through this framework.”
