Present government had put the development of Balochistan on top of the priority list: Kaira
Advisor to Prime Minister for Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan Affairs Qamar Zaman Kaira , while chairing and addressing National Workshop on Baluchistan, Said that the present government had put the development of Baluchistan on top of the priority list and that’s why prime minister had visited to Baluchistan twice within a short period of a month to accelerate work on different projects including CPEC. Earlier he welcomed one hundred participants of National Workshop on Baluchistan who had come from different areas and districts of the province on behalf of Federal Minister for Water Resources, Syed Kursheed Ahmad shah, who could not attend the workshop due to illness. He informed the participants that scarcity of water in Balochistan and other provinces of the country was due to driest months of April and May of the current year.
We want to address Baluchistan issues and we have allocated enhanced amounts for different projects for Baluchistan in the coming budget , he added. Qamar Zaman Kaira said that Federal Government will finance 31 projects in Baluchistan at the cost of more than 300 billions in the next year. Secretary Ministry of Water Resources Dr Kazim Niaz said that a policy for water reservation will be announced soon to save lives during the dried times. He added that ministry has speeded up works on dams and hydro power projects to get rid of power crises in the country. In the end question answer session was held and participants belonging to far-flung areas of Baluchistan asked water and power related questions of which satisfactory answers were given by the advisor and secretary. Joint Secretary, M/o Water Resources Mehr Ali Shah gave a detailed presentation to participants of National Workshop Baluchistan.
