Thatta: The PPP MPA Syed Riaz Hussain Shah Shirazi has accused former district Commissioner Thatta of selling land illegally. Addressing a press conference at a local press club he displayed documents claiming that the land stretching up-to 40 kilometers in the Kohistani area of district Thatta has been illegally and fraudulently transferred to land grabbing mafia by the former district Commissioner who took charge during the regime of caretaker government. ” The law authorizes an assistant Commissioner to allot land but here district Commissioner has allotted land to the land grabber, that is an abuse of power by the DC”; he mentioned adding that the former DC restored 17 judicial orders that were rejected by the commission formed during the previous PPP government.
The restoration of orders aimed at facilitating the land grabbers; MPA alleged. Local land owners, he said, had been deceived by the corrupt bureaucracy of the district. He urged Chief Minister Sindh for holding fair and transparent inquiry into the matter and called for regularizing 800 villages through a resolution in the provincial assembly.
