Asif denies reports of Dar being considered for caretaker PM role

Islamabad_Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) senior leader and climate change minister Sherry Rehman said PPP has formed a three-member committee for the consultations on the caretaker prime minister name.
Sherry Rahman clarified that no name has been finalized yet and national stability is possible only after the elections.
“We want a level playing field for everyone in the election,” Sherry Rehman said.
Sherry said PPP did not nominate any name for the caretaker prime minister.
“The consultation process for caretaker prime minister has just started while fake news is being run on the issue of caretaker prime minister and someone is being crowned on that fake news,” Sheri Rahman commented on the media reports that PMLN has been trying to make consensus on the name of Ishaq Dar for the caretaker prime minister.
She said an impression is being given that the People’s Party has agreed on the caretaker prime minister name. Sherry said that neither any name was shared with PPP, nor did her party agreed on any name.
“Efforts are being made to work according to the constitution,” PPP senior leader Sherry Rehman said.

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has denied media reports that the government is considering Finance Minister Ishaq Dar as caretaker prime minister.
Talking to the media outside the Parliament House on Monday, he said that the news was leaked by a credible journalist, but there is no truth to it.
He stated that the work on this has not even started, and he is not aware of it.
Asif also said that he has no objection to Dar becoming the caretaker prime minister, but he does not think it is a good idea.
He said that Dar is his good friend, and they have spent the jail together during Musharraf’s era.
However, he said that if a caretaker prime minister comes from the ruling party, people will object.
Asif finally talked about Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif’s return to Pakistan.
He said that Sharif will definitely return home, and there is no doubt about it.

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman likely to visit Dubai to meet former president Asif Ali Zardari and PML-N supremo, Nawaz Sharif to ‘discuss’ caretaker setup.
The contacts between Pakistan People’s Party, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam are gearing up as the date for end of the present assembly is coming nearer.
Sources having knowledge of the development said Asif Ali Zardari and Nawaz Sharif have contacted Fazlur Rehman after which he is likely to visit Dubai to meet both the leaders. The three bigwigs will ‘finalise’ the names for the caretaker governments.
Sources closer to PPP told that no agreement was made on Ishaq Dar’s name for the slot. They said that Dar’s name was not suggested and PPP would suggest an impartial candidate for the post.
