PMDC said the revised details of the BDS programme would be issued after the review process is completed. The council has already informed recognised medical and dental colleges about the development.

Earlier, on September 15, 2026, PMDC officials told the Senate Standing Committee on Health that the BDS programme would remain four years.

The committee was informed that PMDC had withdrawn its earlier notification concerning the duration of dental education.

The Senate committee subsequently directed PMDC to formally issue a notification confirming the four-year duration of the BDS programme.
