ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held an extensive phone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Saturday, discussing regional peace efforts and ongoing diplomatic initiatives, according to media reports.
In a message shared on X, Shehbaz Sharif revealed that the call lasted over an hour. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s firm condemnation of continued Israeli strikes on Iran, including attacks on civilian infrastructure, and expressed solidarity with the Iranian people during this difficult time.
The prime minister also conveyed his condolences over the loss of lives and offered prayers for those injured and displaced. He appreciated Iran’s acknowledgment of Pakistan’s efforts aimed at promoting peace and dialogue in the region.
Shehbaz Sharif further highlighted Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic outreach, noting engagement with the United States as well as Gulf and other Islamic nations to help ease tensions and encourage dialogue. The two leaders have remained in contact in recent weeks as the conflict continues to escalate.

Separately, a source from Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry indicated that a key quadrilateral meeting involving foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Egypt is scheduled for Monday, with delegations expected to arrive in Pakistan by Sunday evening.
Pakistan is increasingly playing a central mediating role between Iran and the United States, facilitating indirect communication as tensions persist. With strong ties to Tehran and close relations with Gulf nations, Islamabad has positioned itself as a crucial diplomatic bridge. Meanwhile, both Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Munir are said to maintain a working relationship with US President Donald Trump.
Although Iran has not officially acknowledged direct negotiations with Washington, reports suggest that Tehran has conveyed its response to a proposed peace framework through Pakistan, according to sources cited by Iranian media.
