PM Directs Global Standard IT Education Reforms For Pakistani Universities

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to creating improved opportunities for young people in education, employment, entrepreneurship and skills development across Pakistan.

Chairing a meeting in Islamabad to review progress under the Prime Minister’s Youth Program, Shehbaz Sharif said the government is accelerating efforts to provide youth with international-standard education and advanced training in information technology and other emerging sectors.

The prime minister directed the Higher Education Commission and the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication to prepare a comprehensive strategy aimed at aligning university IT education with global standards and market demands.

Shehbaz Sharif also emphasized expanding technical and vocational training initiatives to increase employment opportunities for Pakistani youth both domestically and overseas. He instructed authorities to integrate various youth loan schemes under a unified framework to make entrepreneurship financing more accessible.

The premier further directed the Prime Minister’s Youth Program to coordinate with the Ministry of Industries and Production for the provision of electric bikes to youth belonging to low and middle-income families.

During the briefing, officials informed the meeting that more than 800,000 young people and 2,000 institutions have registered with the Digital Youth Hub, which is receiving over 4,800 applications daily. Under the Youth Business and Agri Loans Scheme, more than 287,000 individuals have received loans worth Rs122.5 billion, resulting in the creation of over 900,000 jobs.

Participants were also informed about the launch of Pakistan’s first Youth and Adolescent Policy and Youth Employment Policy, while around 400,000 youth took part in the Sports and Talent Hunt Program this year. Updates were additionally shared on proposed projects related to Mixed Martial Arts, FIFA Arena and E-Sports initiatives.
