PM Shehbaz Lebanon Meeting Leads Talks With Bangladeshi Leaders And UN Chief

New York – (Special Correspondent/Web Desk) –  The PM Shehbaz Lebanon meeting took place on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York this week. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif sat down with his Lebanese counterpart, Nawaf Salam, to talk about ties between the two nations and the wider situation in the Middle East.

During the sit-down, Shehbaz made clear that Pakistan stands firmly behind Lebanon. He spoke about respecting the country’s sovereignty, its political independence, and its right to hold its land together as one nation.

Both leaders also looked back at how far relations between Pakistan and Lebanon have come over the years. They agreed to keep building on that bond, calling it a warm and lasting friendship between the two peoples.

The conversation naturally turned to the region’s bigger picture. Shehbaz raised concerns about ongoing fighting and Israeli incursions into Lebanese land. He asked for the fighting to stop right away.

He also pushed for both sides to stick to any ceasefire deals already in place. On top of that, he called for Israeli troops to fully leave areas they currently occupy inside Lebanon.

Shehbaz went a step further, urging the world to follow through on United Nations Security Council resolutions tied to the conflict. He believes that following these rules is key to lasting peace.

After the meeting wrapped up, Shehbaz shared his thoughts online. He wrote that Pakistan will keep standing beside Lebanon and its people as they work toward peace, stability, and a better future.

The two leaders didn’t stop at politics. They also spoke about growing trade and investment links between their countries. Defence cooperation and stronger institutional ties came up too.

Both sides agreed that Pakistan and Lebanon should keep working together at the United Nations and other global platforms. Staying in close contact on shared concerns was something both leaders wanted to continue.

This meeting is just one part of a busier schedule for Shehbaz at the UN gathering. He also met separately with the UN Secretary-General and Bangladesh’s prime minister during his time in New York.

Talking with the UN chief, Shehbaz stressed that dialogue and diplomacy are still the best tools for solving conflicts, especially in the Middle East. He also spoke up for Palestinian rights to self-determination and statehood.
