Meta’s Asia Pacific VP Simon Milner Leads Delegation in Talks with PM Shehbaz Sharif to Explore IT and AI Collaboration in Pakistan

**ISLAMABAD** – A five-member delegation from Meta, headed by Asia Pacific Vice President Simon Milner, met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Tuesday to explore potential partnerships in Pakistan’s Information Technology (IT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) sectors.

During the meeting, the prime minister emphasized Pakistan’s vast potential in IT and digital media, noting that the government has allocated a record budget to promote the IT sector for the first time in the nation’s history.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed a strong interest in utilizing Meta’s expertise in IT and AI to advance these sectors in Pakistan. He also directed the concerned authorities to promptly address any operational challenges Meta faces in the country.

The Meta delegation provided insights into the company’s activities in Pakistan and across the Asia Pacific region. They also highlighted the organization of the region’s first artificial intelligence competition in Pakistan.

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to collaborate on the development and enhancement of digital media and AI in Pakistan.

The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecom Shaza Fatima, Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Jehanzeb Khan, Tania Aidrus, and other senior government officials.
