PM AJK rejects Indian Supreme Court Verdict

PM criticized the historical bias of the Indian judiciary towards Kashmiris.
In a strong response to the Indian Supreme Court verdict on the revocation of Kashmir’s special status, Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq has condemned the decision, asserting that the apex court has failed in upholding justice and the demands of merit.
Addressing the press in Islamabad on December 11, 2023, Prime Minister Anwar ul Haq characterized the court’s verdict as a grave injustice, likening it to the murder of justice and the deprivation of constitutional and human rights for the Kashmiri people. He expressed deep disappointment, stating, “Kashmiris had no hope from the Supreme Court of India.”
Terming the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A by the Indian government as illegal and unconstitutional, the Prime Minister emphasized the lack of faith Kashmiris have in the Indian state apparatus, including its judiciary. He held all Indian institutions, including the judiciary, responsible for the challenging political and human rights situation in occupied Kashmir.
Despite the setback in the Indian Supreme Court, Prime Minister Anwar ul Haq asserted that the Kashmiris’ ongoing struggle for the right to self-determination would persist, undeterred by what he referred to as the Indian government’s “policies of deceit and deception.”
Criticizing the historical bias of the Indian judiciary towards Kashmiris, the Prime Minister stated, “The Indian judiciary has never given any relief to the Kashmiri people.” He argued that the recent verdict only reinforced the perception that the court was acting in alignment with the whims and fancies of the Indian establishment.
