Petition Filed in Indian Supreme Court to Ban Pakistan-India Asia Cup 2025 Match
The Supreme Court is set to hear the case on September 12, with a bench led by the Chief Justice of India.
NEW DELHI: A petition has been filed in the Indian Supreme Court seeking a ban on the highly anticipated Asia Cup 2025 cricket match between Pakistan and India, scheduled for September 14.
According to Indian media reports, the plea has been submitted by Ketan Tirodkar, a social activist from Pune. The petition urges the court to declare the match unconstitutional, citing ongoing tensions between the two countries.
The petitioner argued that given the current conflict-like situation between India and Pakistan, no matches should be played between the two nations. The petition further claims that allowing the match violates Article 21 of the Indian Constitution, which guarantees the right to life and personal liberty to all citizens.
The Supreme Court is set to hear the case on September 12, with a bench led by the Chief Justice of India.
In response to similar concerns earlier, Devajit Saikia, Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), clarified that India’s participation in international tournaments is in line with the government’s policy. He emphasized that India cannot refuse to participate in multinational tournaments like the Asia Cup, which involve multiple countries.
Saikia also stated that while India does not engage in bilateral series with countries it shares strained diplomatic ties with, participation in ICC or ACC-organized events, such as the Asia Cup, is permitted.

He warned that refusing to play in such international events could result in global sanctions on Indian sports, potentially harming the careers of athletes.
