PEMRA Organizes District-Level Cable TV Licensing Ceremony in Islamabad
The ceremony concluded with the distribution of licenses and commemorative group photographs.
Islamabad – The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) held a district-level licensing ceremony today for cable TV operators in Islamabad. The ceremony marked the distribution of licenses to promote legal and quality cable services in the region.
Speaking on the occasion, PEMRA Chairman Muhammad Saleem Baig shared that PEMRA has so far issued 143 licenses to cable TV operators across Islamabad. On August 7, 2025, licenses were issued to operators from 36 districts of Pakistan, including 91 newly licensed operators. Today’s event was organized for the remaining 44 operators from Islamabad.
So far, PEMRA has issued a total of 2,967 licenses nationwide. Of these, 2,814 operators are operational, while 153 are in the process of becoming functional. Islamabad has a total of 67 licensed operators, out of which 37 are active and 30 are in the pipeline.
The PEMRA Chairman emphasized the importance of responsible broadcasting and compliance with the Authority’s rules. He urged all cable operators to provide high-quality services to viewers, follow the “Fair Play” policy, and avoid airing illegal or pirated content. He also reminded operators to renew their licenses within 20 days or face possible cancellation.

The ceremony was attended by senior PEMRA officials including Executive Member (Licensing & Broadcast Operations) Mohammad Farooq Khan, Director General (Licensing) Ms. Rabia Javed, Director General (Operations) Aftab Alam, Regional General Manager Islamabad Shaukat Hayat, along with representatives of the Islamabad Cable Operators Association and newly licensed cable TV operators.
