PCB Introduces New Role to Modernize PSL Player Draft System

This move is being seen as a major step toward improving transparency, planning, and performance in the league.

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken a significant administrative step ahead of the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), aimed at modernizing and streamlining the league’s player draft system.

The PCB has created a new position titled Player Acquisition Consultant, who will oversee player selection, talent scouting, and draft planning processes. This move is being seen as a major step toward improving transparency, planning, and performance in the league.

According to reports, applications for the new position have been opened. Eligible candidates must have at least five years of experience in a recognized sports organization and a relevant university degree. Applications can be submitted until November 15.

The PCB stated that the selected consultant will work closely with PSL management, franchise owners, and the high-performance department to make the player selection process more organized and efficient.

The introduction of this role comes as the PSL enters its next decade and undertakes major administrative reforms. In recent seasons, the league faced challenges including player availability, workload management, and conflicts with international schedules. The new position aims to address these issues and build a sustainable talent pool for the future.

Further details regarding the PSL 11 draft are expected in the coming weeks, with the Player Acquisition Consultant expected to be appointed before franchises begin their final preparations.
