Pathum Nissanka Ruled Out of ODI Tri-Series Against Pakistan, England

Lahiru Udara replaces the injured opener, while Charith Asalanka loses his place after a poor run in England.

ODI  – (Staff Reporter/Web Desk) – Sri Lanka have lost opener Pathum Nissanka for the upcoming ODI tri-series in Pakistan. The cricket board confirmed the news on Thursday after he failed to get medical clearance.

Nissanka hurt his left hamstring during the recent tour of England. He is still not fit enough to play, so he will miss the whole event.

Lahiru Udara has been picked in his place in the 16-member squad. The seven-match tournament will run from 18 to 31 October.

There is another big change in the team. Former captain Charith Asalanka has been dropped after a poor run in the ODI games in England. He scored just 1, 11 and 7 in his last three innings.

This is a tough call, because Asalanka averages 40.55 in 88 ODIs.

Pakistan, Sri Lanka and England will play each other in Rawalpindi and Lahore. Pakistan start against Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi on 18 October. They then meet England at the same ground on 20 October.

Sri Lanka face England in Rawalpindi on 22 October. After that, the event moves to Lahore.

Pakistan play England at Gaddafi Stadium on 25 October and Sri Lanka on 27 October. Sri Lanka and England finish the group stage on 29 October.

The top two teams will reach the final at Gaddafi Stadium on 31 October.

Pakistan will enter the event in good spirits. They recently beat Sri Lanka 2-1 in the T20I series under Sahibzada Farhan. Sri Lanka won the last match to end on a high.
