Parco Oil Refinery to Temporarily Shut Down for Scheduled Maintenance
40-Day Closure Begins October 10, Operations Set to Resume on November 18
Pakistan’s largest oil refinery, Parco, is scheduled to undergo a temporary shutdown for maintenance, lasting 40 days from October 10 until November 18.
This closure was confirmed by a spokesperson from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and is part of routine maintenance that will address mechanical, civil, and other critical aspects of the refinery. The last maintenance shutdown took place in 2020.
Authorities have assured the public that there will be no shortage of petroleum products during this period. The refinery has obtained prior approval from the Ministry of Energy and other relevant agencies, and OGRA has confirmed that contingency measures are in place, including the import of additional petrol to meet demand. Currently, approximately 70% of the petrol consumed in Pakistan is sourced from imports.
Refinery officials have indicated that the oil supply chain will remain intact during the maintenance period, particularly for diesel, which will be readily available.
