Pakistan’s Population Set to Reach 455 Million by 2100

A Ticking Time Bomb for Resources, Infrastructure, and Environment,Saman Roi

Lahore-Pakistan’s Population Set to Reach 455 Million by 2100,Director General of the Punjab Population Welfare Department, Saman Roi, has warned that Pakistan’s rapidly growing population is having a devastating impact on the country’s resources, infrastructure, and environment. The current population growth rate is causing a housing shortage, pressure on infrastructure, and contributing to pollution and loss of biodiversity.

If left unchecked, Pakistan’s population is expected to reach 338 million by 2050 and 455 million by 2100, further straining resources, leading to food and water scarcity, increased greenhouse gas emissions, and climate change impacts.

Pakistan Ranked 5th Most Populous Country Globally

To mitigate these effects, Saman Roi emphasized the need for improved access to family planning resources and education, effective resource management, conservation of natural resources, and sustainable urban planning strategies. Urgent action is required to reduce poverty, create jobs, and ensure a sustainable future for Pakistan.
