Pakistan’s Maliha Ali Wins Bronze at 6th Asian Open Taekwondo Championship
Impressive Performance in the -73 kg Category
Maliha Ali, representing Pakistan, secured a bronze medal in the -73 kg category at the 6th Asian Open Kyorugi Taekwondo Championship, held in Tangerang, Indonesia, from October 15 to 18, 2024.
A student of Lahore Garrison University, Maliha demonstrated exceptional dedication and effort throughout the tournament, earning recognition for her outstanding performance. The event featured intense competition, with over 275 athletes from various Asian nations, including India, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, the Philippines, Malaysia, Nepal, and host Indonesia.
South Korea’s Shin Jeong Jin claimed the gold medal in the -73 kg category, while Indonesia’s Maheshwari Nadira secured the silver. Maliha’s achievement not only reflects her personal hard work but also serves as motivation for her fellow athletes and aspiring taekwondo practitioners across Pakistan.
Prior to the tournament, a 16-member taekwondo team from Pakistan traveled to Indonesia with high hopes of making their mark at this prestigious competition.
Hosted at the Indore Stadium Sports Center, the championship provided athletes with a valuable opportunity to compete at an elite level while fostering sportsmanship and unity among participating nations.
