Pakistan’s First Female Lt. Gen Nigar Johar Wins Bint-e-Hawa Achievement Award 2024

She was given the award at a function organized by Bint-e-Hawa Forum (BHF) in the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) to recognize outstanding achievements of talented women.

A total of 35 awards were distributed across 10 categories, highlighting the various contributions of these notables.
Lifetime Achievement Award was also given to Shabina Ayaz, and Tabassum Adnan.
Dr. Tahira Nishtar, Dr. Nazli, Hasina Zahoor, and Ms. Mahvesh Ali Khan were honored with prestigious awards in the Healthcare and Social Work category.
In the Women Empowerment and Entrepreneurship category, Qurat-ul-Ain, Fanagis Azim, Sidra Farooqi, and Saima Mehboob were recognized for their efforts.
The achievements of Salma Marwat, Mahnoor Ali, Hadi Kamal, and Husna were celebrated in the sports category.
Meena Shams, Nadia Saboohi, Muskan Safi, Wagma Feroz, and Khalida Niaz were honored in the Journalism and Freelancing category.
In the education and literature category, Dr. Shahida Sardar, Malghalara Bakhtiar, and Ms. Bushra Ahmad were recognized.
The event showcased the outstanding achievements and contributions of women in various fields, inspiring future generations to strive for excellence.

Nigar Johar background
Lieutenant General Nigar Johar Khan HI(M) TI(M) is a retired three-star general in the Pakistan Army, she made history as the first and only woman in the Pakistan Army to hold the rank of Lieutenant General and the third Major General. reaching the position of
Nigar belonged to Pakistan Army Medical Corps and served as Surgeon General of Pakistan Army and Colonel Commandant of Army Medical Corps.
She received his early education in Panjpir village in Swabi District and lost both his parents and two younger sisters in a car accident, only her brother survived. Her husband, Johar, an engineer in the army, also died before retirement.
Nigar received her primary education from Convent Girls High School, Rawalpindi, graduated from Army Medical College (AMC) in 1985, and received her Master of Public Health degree from Armed Forces Postgraduate Medical Institute in 2015. Courses in Medical Administration.

She made history as Surgeon General of Pakistan Army in June 2020, served as Deputy Commandant of Combined Military Hospital Rawalpindi in 2015, and was among 37 Brigadiers to be promoted to the rank of Major General.
She was awarded several awards and honors including Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military), Tamgha-e-Imtiaz (Military) for her services.
