Pakistan-UK Regional Stabilization Conference Strengthens Defense Ties

The conference serves as a platform for Pakistan and the UK to deepen their understanding of shared security challenges.

RAWALPINDI: General Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff of the Pakistan Army, alongside General Sir Patrick Sanders, Chief of the General Staff of the UK Army, inaugurated the 6th Pakistan-UK Regional Stabilization Conference at the National Defence University in Islamabad on April 30, 2024.

The conference, a hallmark of defense and security dialogue between the two nations, convenes experts from various fields including diplomats, defense officials, intellectuals, and civil society representatives.

This year’s conference, attended by a 30-member UK delegation led by Major General Tom Bateman, Standing Joint Force Commander, focuses on discussing global and regional dynamics impacting national security and regional peace. Moreover, the dialogue has broadened to encompass regional issues, with participation from defense officials from neighboring countries.

During the event, General Munir held discussions with General Sanders and designate CGS UK Army, General Roland Walker, on enhancing professional cooperation and bilateral defense relations. General Munir expressed gratitude to General Sanders for his contributions to strengthening military ties and congratulated General Walker on his upcoming role as the next CGS of the UK Army.
