Pakistan to Deal with Hostile Elements with “Iron Hand”, COAS
RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), visited Peshawar today, where he was briefed on the prevailing security situation and ongoing counter-terrorism operations targeting the terrorist group Fitna Al Khwarij. The briefing was attended by the Federal Minister of Interior and the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
During the visit, the COAS praised the unwavering resolve and sacrifices of Pakistan’s Armed Forces and law enforcement agencies, highlighting their crucial role in dismantling terrorist networks and thwarting their sinister plans. He acknowledged the remarkable achievements of the security forces, stating, “Through their dedication, courage, and supreme sacrifices, we have successfully degraded the operational capabilities of terrorist organizations, both within our borders and beyond.”
General Munir reaffirmed that the fight against terrorism is ongoing and vowed to pursue it to its logical conclusion. He assured the nation that any attempt to disturb the peace would be met with decisive and overwhelming force. “The enemy may try to sow discord and fear, but we will not relent. Hostile elements will be dealt with an iron hand. They will continue to suffer heavy losses,” said the COAS.
The COAS further commended the law enforcement agencies for their tireless efforts in ensuring the safety and security of citizens, thwarting multiple attacks, and maintaining peace and order. He highlighted the courage and professionalism of the security forces, which have been instrumental in combating evolving terrorist threats.
In a show of unity, General Munir also met with political leaders from various parties in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The participants reached a consensus on the necessity of a unified political stance and public support against terrorism. The political representatives expressed their unwavering support for the Armed Forces and law enforcement agencies in the fight against terror, agreeing on the need for a collective effort beyond political divides to combat the extremist ideologies propagated by terrorist groups.

General Munir was warmly received by the Corps Commander of Peshawar upon his arrival. The visit underscored the continued commitment of Pakistan’s security forces and political leadership to combat terrorism and ensure peace and stability for the nation.
