Pakistan to Crack Down on Deportees with FIRs, Passport Cancellations

Deported individuals will also be placed on the Passport Control List for five years.

Islamabad – A high-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, where significant decisions were taken regarding individuals deported from abroad.

It was decided in the meeting that:

  • FIRs will be registered against individuals who are deported.
  • The passports of deported individuals will be cancelled.
  • Deported individuals will also be placed on the Passport Control List for five years.

On the directives of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, a committee led by the Interior Secretary has been formed to further tighten and improve passport laws.

“Deported individuals are becoming a source of international embarrassment for Pakistan,” said Mohsin Naqvi.
“No leniency will be shown to them in the future,” he added.

Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, Interior Secretary, DG FIA, and DG Passport also attended the meeting.
